It was about 10:30 tonight and I just turned off the tv., when I thought I had left the outside Christmas lights on. When I went to shut them off, I realized that it wasn't Christmas lights, but cop car lights. The neighbors 2 doors down had some type of altercation with some people and someone hollered "he's got a gun". I didn't hear it but my other neighbors did. Needless to say the police were called. I saw them(cops) out in front of the house searching for something and I asked what was happening. They said they were looking for something but didn't say what. It turned out they found a knife at the end of my driveway. Thankfully nobody was hurt. I don't know who the people are and believe they just recently moved in. Hopefully, they will move out real soon! I don't need that kind of excitement and worry in my life.
Bernie's Beans seems to be doing pretty good. We made it thru the 1st month and did pretty good. I am pretty certain that once people realize we are a sandwich shop as well as coffee, we will see more business. Kevin decided that we should change our work schedule. He is going to open up at 5:30 and I will come in at 7:30. The early morning is basically people stopping in for morning coffee and nothing else. Around 7:30 people start looking for food. If things aren't too busy he will leave around 1 - 1:30 and I will stay and close up. That works for me!
Our Holiday this year was pretty quiet. We had a great time at the Christmas party. Christmas Eve was spent having a yummy dinner of crab legs ect. Later in the evening Christina and the kids came over and opened presents. They were so excited and adorable. Christmas Day we had a nice traditional ham & cheesy potato dinner. As for New Years Eve, we went to dinner with Kathy, Leo & Heather. Then home to lay on the couches for a while before bedtime. I tried to watch the ball drop but fell asleep. I woke about 20 min. after it fell.
As for Grandma & Grandpa, He is still fighting the battle but has "finally" decided to give up driving. He has been retaining water in his legs from issues with his heart. He still goes every week to get his 2 pints of blood. This week when he got to the hospital, he took a nasty fall out in front of the hospital. He skinned up his arm and leg pretty badly. He says he has some very bad pain in his chest, especially when he tries to take a deep breath. They checked him over in the ER and couldn't find anything wrong other than the scrapes. The poor guy has been going through a lot. Grandma is really getting tired too. Just the worrying about Grandpa is wearing her out. Hopefully, Glenn & Denise are supposed to be going there next week. They have several friends in the park who have been very helpful. Thank goodness for them!
