Golf Academy

Yesterday, I rode with Aaron & Kevin to the Golf Academy in Winter Haven. Aaron is very interested in attending if he can get the financial aid he needs. It is a really nice place. The classes are held every day from 8 - 12 and then they are allowed to play golf for free. It is a 18 month course and he will graduate with an associates degree. Depending on which path he takes, he would be able to obtain a job as an instructor, manager, golfclub repair ect. He is interested in the teaching aspect. I hope he will be able to get his affairs in order so that he will be able to start in January. I just wish Kevin & I were in a better financial situation to be able to help him out more.

As for Grandpa, He is in Palm Beach, as I write this, getting 3 pints of blood today.
Last week his regular Dr. wasn't in and he didn't get a transfusion. His blood was at 8.5 and they thought he didn't need it. However, today when he went in, his blood was only at a 6.5 level. That is why he is having to get 3 pints instead of 2 today. I don't know how he is able to function at all when his blood gets so low. It amazes me. He still has a ginormous appetite but he is very weak and has a hard time getting around. He did however, promise Kevin that he would stop driving. Hopefully he means it. We are trying to get people lined up to drive him to West Palm once a week after I come home. So far, we haven't had a lot of luck. So many people have told us in the past that if we needed any help with anything to let them know. Now when it's time to come thru they don't seem to be available. If we can get at least 4 people to volunteer, then they would only have to do it once a month. It would take a lot of pressure off of Grandma. She can still drive him if needed, but it is getting hard on her. Her eyesite isn't very good in the dark and they need to leave here by 6:00 a.m. A dear family friend is working on getting something lined up. Hopefully he will have some luck.

Kevin & Aaron are planning on heading home this weekend. I will be coming home on October 20th., unless things take a drastic turn for the worse here. We are just taking it day at a time. In the meantime, I am also trying to help Grandma get her things gathered for a yard sale. She has so much stuff that she doesn't use or need. She's been very good about letting go of a lot of it. Hopefully the yard sale will be a success, as many people are still gone til winter.

Guess I should close for now and start helping Grandma gather more things.
Hope the weather is good where you are. It has been very hot here.
